LEAH BURRIS MARTINDALE

Leah Burris Martindale, 89, of Washington Court House, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 5:45 a.m. at Signature HealthCARE of Fayette County where she had been residing since 2007.

Mrs. Martindale was born July 20, 1924, in Clinton County, Ohio to Walter and Tillie Groves Burris and lived most of her life in this community.

She attended the Heritage Memorial Church of Christ in Christian Union and had been a member of the Fayette County Commission on Aging.

Mrs. Martindale was preceded in death by two husbands, Homer Souther and John Henry Martindale; by two brothers, Donald and James Burris and three sisters, Amanda Trehune, Helen Phillips and Betty DeWeese.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Sondra Day of Washington Court House; a grandson, Tim Day and his wife, Amanda, and a step great grandson, Alex, all of Springboro and a sister, Kathleen Peters of Englewood, Ohio.

A graveside service will be held Friday, May 16, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Washington Cemetery with the Rev. DeVon Davis, chaplain for Signature HealthCARE of Fayette County, officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

There will be no calling hours.
