Barbara Jean Elkins, 69

Barbara Jean Elkins, 69, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where she had been admitted earlier in the day.  She had been in failing health.

Barbara was born June 30, 1943, in Fayette County, Ohio to Harley Francis and Rowena Katheryn Houser Manns and was a lifelong resident of this community.

She was coordinator of transportation for Fayette County Community Action for 21 years until her retirement in 2011.

Barbara was a member of the Era Pilgram Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Elkins on June 17, 2003; by her parents; a brother, Leroy Manns and a sister, Annabelle McCullah.

Barbara is survived by a son, Mark Elkins and his fiancé, Maggie Welsh, of Marysville; a daughter, Rebecca Frederick of Washington Court House; four grandchildren, Kimberly and Brittani Frederick and Zachary and Logan Elkins; several great grandchildren; four brothers, Ray Manns and his wife, Linda, and Larry Manns, all of Bloomingburg, Lester Manns and his wife, Stephanie, and Clarence Manns, all of Washington Court  House and three sisters, Carolyn Cooper and her husband, Norman, and Shirley Hays, all of Washington Court House and Donna Thomas and her husband, Edward, of Mount Sterling and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Brothers Billy McCoy and Richard Holliday officiating.  Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service.
