Eddie L. Pendergraft, 88

Eddie L. Pendergraft, age 88, of Washington CH, was surrounded by his loving family at home as he went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 1, 2013.

He was born on October 29, 1924 in Fayette County to Charles and Lilly Waldren Pendergraft. He worked for 30 years as the maintenance supervisor at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital and had worked at Fayette Progressive Industries as a bus driver for more than 19 years.

Eddie proudly served his country in WWII. He was a very active member of the Heritage Memorial Church and also was a member of the Silver Rocket Cycle Club. He enjoyed flying his airplane, riding motorcycles and most of all loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Charles Pendergraft and his best friend and brother-in-law, Clinton “Shine” Grey.

Survivors include his wife Betty J. (Grey) Pendergraft, whom he married on January 6, 1973; his great grandson and best little buddy, Patrick Harper; his children Janie (Donnie) Rhoads of Hillsboro, John (Katherine) Schatz of London, Sharon (Colin) Bamford and Gene (Leigh) Pendergraft both of Arizona; grandchildren Ashley, Kayla, Stefani, Marc, Dawn, Erin and Bryan; 8 very special great-grandchildren; siblings Jerry (Jeannette) Pendergraft , Joyce Dilley, Jewell Dilley, Junior (Norma Jean) Pendergraft , Jan (John) Vanbruant and Annie Deskins as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heritage Memorial Church with Pastor Bruce Morrison and Rev. Joe Duvall officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
