Christopher J. Maynard, 26, died on Tuesday March 5, 2013. He was born in Fayette County on April 26, 1986 the son of Virginia “Ginger” Russell Maynard and the late Terry Maynard.

He attended Fairfield Schools. He is survived by his mother and siblings Michael Maynard, WCH, Travis Maynard, Leesburg and Anthony Maynard, Jeffersonville, maternal grandparents Sharon and Justin Russell of Jeffersonville and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

He was preceded by his father, Terry, his sister Jennifer Maynard and grandparents Thomas and Rosa Maynard. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 3:30PM at the Littleton Funeral Home with burial in the Koontz Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:30 until the service.


Dorothy L. Owsley, 88

Dorothy L. Owsley, 88, of Lebanon, formerly of Washington C.H., passed away at her residence in Lebanon on March 5, 2013. She was born November 3, 1924 in Lucasville, Ohio to the late William E. and Sarah Benner Long. She was married to Joshua B. Owsley Sr. who precedes her in death.

She was a member of The Heritage Memorial Church. Dorothy was a press operator for the General Motors Company until her retirement in 1983.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her five brothers Harold, Ralph, Lawrence, Homer and Roy Long and three sisters Margaret Dillard, Mary Cathryn and Lola Lorane Long.

She is survived by her son, Joshua (Cathy) Owsley of Lebanon, three sisters, Nellie Scaggs, Wilma Allison and Jane (Don) Elliott all of Washington C.H. Mrs. Owsley is survived by her grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Retherford of Asheville, Heather Owsley of Madison IN and Matthew Owsley of Lebanon, and many beloved nieces and nephews, known as Aunt DoDo.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday March 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Morrow Funeral Home in Washington C.H with Pastor Bruce Morrison officiating. Burial will be in the Highlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service.

Dr. Albert Gay

Albert G. Gay, M.D., 53, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 11:45 a.m. at Mount Carmel West in Columbus where he had been a patient since Saturday.

Dr. Gay was born September 25, 1959 in Jacksonville, FL to Hubert Reeves and Jean Salmon Gay, Jr. He was a 1977 graduate of North Augusta (SC) High School and received a presidential appointment of West Point for the summer session. He received a bachelor’s degree in engineering and physics in 1983 from Abilene Christian College and his medical degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1992. He served his internship and residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Dayton. He served briefly in the Navy and was in the Air Force 1995-1999.

He began a family practice in Jeffersonville in 1996 and moved to Washington Court House in 1999. He was with the Jamestown Family Practice from 2005-2008. In 2008 he became a family physician at Fayette County Memorial Hospital and had been a hospitalist at Fayette County Memorial Hospital since 2011. He has also been the medical director at Court House Manor since 2004. He has served as Fayette County Coroner since 2002 and was a certified forensics investigator.

Dr. Gay was a member of the Ohio and American Medical Associations, the American Medical Director’s Association; the Ohio Coroner’s Association and the Buckeye State Sheriffs’ Association and was the medical representative on the Fayette County Board of Health. He was recently recognized by the American Board of Family Medicine for assisting in the development of the passing standards for the 2011 MC-FP examinations.

He was a member of the Crossroads Christian Church and the Kiwanis Club of Washington Court House. He was an Eagle Scout and loved to hunt, fish, play golf, read and write.

Dr. Gay was preceded in death by his parents and a half brother, Allen Gay.

He is survived by his wife, the former Mary L. Lopez whom he married August 17, 1979; four children, Crystal Gay of Dayton, Melody Gay, Daniel Gay and Emily Gay, all of Washington Court House; two grandchildren, Harmony Gay and Feodore Gabriel Fowler; a brother, Raymond Gay of North Augusta, SC; a sister, Wanda Gay of Aiken, SC; a half sister, Jackie Ligdon of Charlotte, NC; two aunts, Betty Mixon of North Augusta and Sue Baxley of Aiken and several cousins.

The funeral will be Monday, March 11, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Crossroads Christian Church, 175 Halliday Drive, with Todd Maurer, pastor at the church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church Sunday from 2-7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

Nicole L. “Nikki” McConnell, age 36, of West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the CAMC Hospital of Charleston, W. VA.

She was born on January 1, 1977 in Columbus, Ohio.

Nikki was preceded in death by her mother, Valerie L. Manning.

Survivors include her fiancé, Randy Meadows; father, Kerby McConnell of Columbus; her children, Brandon and Kyle; grandparents, Boyd and Bonnie Manning of Tazewell, TN, Georgia and Terry Marshall of New Holland and Marveline McConnell of Columbus; siblings, Jessica Fry, Andrew, Melissa, Lorena and Samantha McConnell. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the Washington Cemetery with Dwayne Manning officiating.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Summers Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses.

Donald E. Ison, 74, Sabina died on Friday, March 08, 2013 at St. Catherine’s Manor.

Don was born in Sandy Hook, Kentucky on August 6, 1938 to Bert D. and Mauis Marie Sparks Ison.

Don retired as Public Works Director of Tarpon Springs, Florida.

After retirement he worked as a heavy equipment operator. He loved to golf and fish and music.

He is survived by his wife Betty Adams Ison, children Donald (Kim) Ison, Sabina, Dawn D. (Jeff) While, Bainbridge and Ronda (Mike) Bowles, Bainbridge, grandchildren Jason White, Ashley McCloskey, Lindsey Bowels, Matthew Ison and Donald Ison III, seven great grandchildren, brothers David Ison, Fairborn and Daniel Ison, Sabina and his sister Dorothy (Kessel) Howard, Greenup, KY.

The funeral service will be held on Monday at 5PM at the Littleton Funeral Home. Friends may call on Monday from 3PM until time of service.

Roger J. Sanderson, 86

Roger J. Sanderson, 86, Sabina died on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Wilmington Nursing and Rehab.

Roger was born in Port William, Ohio on September 11, 1926 the son of Milton and Mary Johnson Sanderson. He graduated from Jefferson Township High School. He served in the Army during WWII.

He started at CCAFB and retired from Desi Logistics Material Handling. He married Barbara McClure on January 16, 1953, she survives. He is survived by God daughters Hannah and Lydia McGrew and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Loretta Goodbar, William, Carroll and Russell Sanderson and Geraldine Thomas.

His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, at 12:00pm at the Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina with burial in the Sabina Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:30AM until time of service.

Mary F. Blade, 88, of Washington C.H., passed away at Greenfield Hearth and Care on Sunday, March 10, 2013. She was born January 1, 1925 to the late Marvin Hughey and Bessie Flora Penn Curtin in Highland county near Leesburg.

She was a receptionist to Dr. Anderson and Dr. Binzel. She was a member of McNair Presbyterian Church and assisted her husband, Bob in the family business, Blade and Sons Auto Body Shop Service.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1991, a brother Charles Curtin, and two sisters, Elsie Blade and Margaret Powell.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth and Keith Blade both of Washington C.H., a brother, Joseph John (Henryetta) Curtin of Wilmington, a sister, Ruth (James) Dellinger of Reynoldsburg, her grandchildren, Tiffany Blade, Melissa (Gary) Cornell, , Kristin Blade (Dustin Rinehart) and Brian Blade all of Washington C.H., Travis (Amber) Blade of San Antonio, Texas, and Tammy (Stacy) Neese of Woodstock Georgia. She is also survived by six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morrow Funeral Home in Washington C.H. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the Washington C.H. funeral home on Wednesday, March 13 from 6-8 p.m.

Russell B. Pitstick, age 80, of Washington CH, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 6:50 p.m. at his home.

He was born on November 3, 1932 in Fairborn, Ohio to Francis and Dorothy Randall Pitstick. He had lived all of his life in this area. He retired from farming. He had attended the Heritage Memorial Church.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Dale, Kenneth, Joe, Virginia, Sharon, Patrick, Tommy, Jimmy, Dorothy and Julie.

Survivors include his wife Gloria Agee (Rich) Pitstick, whom he married on September 23, 1995; his children Mark Pitstick, Neil (Betsy) Pitstick and Michael Pitstick; grandchildren Lindsey (Josh) Houck, Josh Pitstick, Nicholas (Brianna) Pitstick and Abbey, Madison, Emma and Natalie Pitstick; great-grandchildren Alexis, Hannah and Morgan; step-children Richard Rich, William (Diane) Rich and Jamey (Shonda) Rich; step-grandchildren Dillon Rich, Shannon (Sean) Weaver, Shane (Jenni) Davis and T.J. Davis; step-great-grandchildren Jessica, Jason, Kristi and Faith; siblings Kathy Pitstick, Evelyn Yenger and J.R. Pitstick as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Beverly J. Eyre Dodds, born August 13, 1927 in Fayette County to Daisy and Vaiden Long, passed on March 11, 2013 at her home. She was a life-long resident of Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Susan Eyre Miracle, her husbands, Joseph Eugene Eyre and Robert Isaac Dodds and her dear granddaughters, Brittany Lyn and Adrienne Nicole Eyre.

Beverly was lovingly known as Nanny to her precious grandchildren, Allison Vickers, Bradley L (Jodell) Miracle, and Ericka L. (Anthony) Grafsky and great grandchildren Madison and Vaiden Miracle, Blain Vickers, Aidan, Ethan and Asher Grafsky. Beverly was a loving grandmother who looked forward to family dinners when everyone came home to enjoy the holidays. After returning to college in her forties, Beverly taught sixth and fifth graders for years before retiring from the Miami-trace school district.

Beverly is survived by her sons Edward E. (Nicola) Eyre and Donald Vaiden Eyre. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Leesburg United Methodist Church 119 Church St, Leesburg, OH 45135 or the charity of your choice.

Mary Ann Cirigliano, 88 of Oxford and formerly of Wilmington died on Saturday afternoon March 9, 2013 in Oxford.

Born November 29, 1924 in West New York, New Jersey, the daughter of Michael and Eujennia Palazzo.

She was preceded by her husband James Cirigliano on September 10, 2010.

She had resided in Wilmington for many years and was a member of Jehovah?s Witnesses Kingdom Hall.

She is survived by her daughters, Jill (Bob) Cain of Oxford and Linda (Bert) Wood of Pasadena, CA.

Grandchildren, Caitlin, Bobbie Jo, Ashley, Megan and Matt. Great grandchildren, Trey, Shelby, Joshua, Riley, Hayden, Kegan, Ben, Taylor and Roman. She is one of thirteen siblings.

A graveside service will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Sabina Cemetery.

Jessica M. Howard, 30, Sabina died on March 13, 2013 as a result of a car accident.

She was born on October 28, 1982 in Wilmington the daughter of Jeff and Brenda Michael Howard.

She was a 2001 East Clinton graduate. She was employed as the office manager of Livingston International.

She loved to draw and do crafts. She was loved photography and photographed many sporting events.

She played soft ball and basketball and coached summer youth league in Sabina, Jr High girl?s basketball and reserve softball at East Clinton. She is survived by her children Dylan and Lyric Creek, her parents and her sister Mandy Creamer and nephews Braydin and Jacob and special friend Kaci Curtis.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Wayne and Joann Howard, Raymond “Nick” Michael and Shirley Graves.

Her funeral service will be held on-Monday at 1:00 pm at the Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina burial will be in the Sabina Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday at the funeral home from 2-6.

Anna Lee Carter, 93, of Circleville, formerly of Mt. Sterling and New Holland, died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 4:52 a.m. at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Sharron and Floyd Barnett in Circleville where Mrs. Carter had been residing since December 2011.

She was born January 13, 1920 in Pickaway County near New Holland to Clyde Richard and Margaret Isabelle Kendrick Hott.

Mrs. Carter had formerly been a cook and waitress and also an aide at the Orient State Institute.  Following her retirement she spent many hours volunteering in the care of others in her community.

She was a member of the New Holland Church of Christ in Christian Union where she was dearly loved by her church family.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Hays D. Carter; a daughter, Joye Lynn Douds; a grandson, James Barnett; two brothers, Eldwin R. (Pete) and Billy Joe Hott and two sisters, Garnet Spangler and Betty Jean Deatley.

Surviving, in addition to her daughter and son-in-law, are five grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren and a brother, George Hott of New Holland.

The funeral will be Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the New Holland Church of Christ In Christian Union with the Rev. Larry Doss, pastor at the church, and the Rev. Michael Hodge, former church pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church from noon Saturday until time of the service.

James “Jim” Lee Coldiron Jr., age 64, of Washington CH, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 9:40 p.m. at the Fayette County Memorial Hospital.

He was born on May 2, 1948 in Fayette County to James Lee Sr. and Betty Jane Gardner Coldiron. He had worked at Armco, Thatcher Plastics and Schulers Inc. of Columbus. He was a 1966 Washington High School graduate and he enjoyed building computers.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sarita Lynn Shiltz and daughter-in-law Leah Ann Coldiron.

Survivors include his wife Ozella Pearl Day Coldiron, whom he married on April 29, 1967; his children James Lee Coldiron III and Angela Lynnette (Michael) Coldiron-Moore all of Washington CH; grandchildren Matthew Alan Coldiron, Lorin Alivia Coldiron and fiancé Tyrus Brannon, Alexander James Moore and Alexis Christine Moore; siblings Sue (George) Geesling and Russ (Dianne) Coldiron as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends including special cousin Teresa Ann (Mark) Brooks-Yoho.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.

Wanda Y. McCoy, 73, of Grove City, Ohio died Sunday, March 17, 2013, at 11:15 p.m. at the Brown Memorial Home in Circleville where she had been admitted earlier in the day.  She had been in failing health.

Mrs. McCoy was born January 11, 1940, in Ironton, Ohio to Kenneth Howard and Margaret Cora Collins Willis.  She had lived most of her life in Grove City.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hesham K. Yaktin; by three sons, Jamel, Omar and Hanney Yaktin; a step-daughter, Tina McCoy and a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Vincent Savoia.

Mrs. McCoy is survived by her husband, Thomas B. McCoy whom she married July 4, 1971; by a son Homam Yaktin of Circleville and his fiancée and best friend, Linda Garske; three step-children, Lana Runnels and her husband, Bob, of Washington Court House, Tim McCoy of Springhill, TN and Shawn McCoy and his wife, Theresa, of Waverly, Ohio; two grandsons, Nazeeh Yaktin and his wife, Sandy, and Rachid Yaktin; several step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several step great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma and Irwin Lyall of Patriot, OH, Mary and Buddy Meridith, of TN; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Linda Plakaros of Maryland and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation took place.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at the Washington Cemetery with the Rev. E. Dean Queen, spiritual care coordinator for Heartland Hospice, officiating.  Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House.

John H. (Jack) Sollars, 90

John H. (Jack) Sollars, 90, of Bloomingburg, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family and the comfort of Hospice of Fayette County nurse, Nancy Bennett, at 2:18 a.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013.  He had been in failing health.

He was born October 2, 1922, in Bloomingburg, Ohio to Don J. and Martha Eckle Sollars.  He was a 1940 graduate of Bloomingburg High School and was a lifelong resident of the Bloomingburg community.

Jack was a former farmer and employed at Armco, Inc. for 33 1/2 years, retiring in 1984.  He served on the Bloomingburg Village Council for nine years; was clerk of Paint Township from 1965-1992; was zoning inspector for Paint, Marion and Wayne Townships for several years and formerly was a member of the Trustees and Clerks Association.

He was a member and elder of the Bloomingburg Presbyterian Church where he had served as trustee and Sunday school superintendent and was Clerk of Session from 1968-1989.  He was a member of Bloomingburg Lodge #449, F & AM; 32nd Degree Masons, Valley of Columbus; Aladdin Temple Shrine and the Washington Shrine Club.  He coached Babe Ruth baseball and was a Boy Scout leader for several years and had been a member of the Bloomingburg Lions Club.    He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and a member of the Coast Guard Combat Veterans Association and Paul H. Hughey Post #25 of the American Legion.

Jack is survived by his wife, the former Helen Minshall, whom he married September 11, 1947; three children, Rebecca Sollars of Bloomingburg; Jacqueline Jones and her husband, Robert, of Bloomingburg and Michael Sollars and his wife, Marilynn, of Frankfort, Ohio; two grandsons, Jon Jones and his wife, Taylor, of Washington Court House and Brett Sollars of Frankfort and a sister, Pat Scott of Bloomingburg.

The funeral will be Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Bloomingburg Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Randy Terry, pastor at the church, officiating.  A Masonic service will be held immediately prior to the funeral.  Burial will follow in the Bloomingburg Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. Thursday until time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Fayette Co., Inc., P.O. Box 849, Washington Court House, Ohio 43160 or the Bloomingburg Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 157, Bloomingburg, Ohio  43106.

Barbara Jean Elkins, 69, of Washington Court House, Ohio died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where she had been admitted earlier in the day.  She had been in failing health.

Barbara was born June 30, 1943, in Fayette County, Ohio to Harley Francis and Rowena Katheryn Houser Manns and was a lifelong resident of this community.

She was coordinator of transportation for Fayette County Community Action for 21 years until her retirement in 2011.

Barbara was a member of the Era Pilgram Holiness Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Elkins on June 17, 2003; by her parents; a brother, Leroy Manns and a sister, Annabelle McCullah.

Barbara is survived by a son, Mark Elkins and his fiancé, Maggie Welsh, of Marysville; a daughter, Rebecca Frederick of Washington Court House; four grandchildren, Kimberly and Brittani Frederick and Zachary and Logan Elkins; several great grandchildren; four brothers, Ray Manns and his wife, Linda, and Larry Manns, all of Bloomingburg, Lester Manns and his wife, Stephanie, and Clarence Manns, all of Washington Court  House and three sisters, Carolyn Cooper and her husband, Norman, and Shirley Hays, all of Washington Court House and Donna Thomas and her husband, Edward, of Mount Sterling and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Brothers Billy McCoy and Richard Holliday officiating.  Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery.

Virginia Mae Wamsley, 74, of Washington C.H. , passed away at Country Glenn Nursing and Therapy Center. She was born December 8, 1938 to the late Charles and Frances Younger Queen in Gallipolis, Ohio.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Wamsley, two brothers, , Charles and Sam Queen and a sister, Hilda Frisbie.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Patricia Burt) Wamsley of Washington C.H., three brothers, Frank, William, Jess Queen, a sister, Frances all of Washington C.H. two grandchildren, Jamey and Ashley (Josh) Rohrer of Washington C.H., four great grandchildren, Jamey Wamsley, Jr. and Aiden Rohrer both of Washington C.H., and Bailey and Payton Wamsley of Chillicothe.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Kathleen Abbott, age 87, of Washington CH, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:45 a.m. at the Country Glenn Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born on February 26, 1926 in Austin, Ohio to Alfonzo and Maude Clark Campbell. She had worked as a nurse’s aide at Autumn Years Nursing Home in Sabina. She enjoyed reading, shopping, bowling and cooking.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father Milt Sines, siblings Della Penwell, Irene Sword, Laura Pollard, Jessie Wilson and James Campbell.

Survivors include her children Connie (Billy) Howe and Diana (Gary) Swickard all of Washington CH; grandchildren Karen Hall, Julie Neauover and Dwayne Howe; great-grandchildren Samantha Hall, D.J. Howe, Kody Howe, Patrick Neauover and Kaley Dunham as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no viewing or service. Cremation took place.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Ohio, 3380 Tremont Rd., Columbus, OH 43221.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Summers Funeral Home.

Malcolm Edward Haggard, 65, of Logan, Ohio died Thursday, March 28, 2013, at 12:25 a.m. at his residence following a brief illness.

Malcolm was born September 23, 1947 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Edward W. and Lucille Campbell Haggard.  He was a 1965 graduate of Miami Trace High School and lived most of his life in New Holland until moving to Logan two years ago.

He worked at DuPont in Circleville for 35 years until his retirement in 2003.

Malcolm was a Viet Nam veteran of the U. S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Malcolm is survived by his wife, the former Claudia Jo Haines whom he married November 25, 1994; by four children, Angie Reisinger and her husband, Michael, Kathy Entrekin and her husband, Andrew, all of Washington Court House; Kendra Miller and her husband, Kevin, of Tarlton and Cody Bowen and his wife, Jamie, of Washington Court House; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Myron Haggard of Greenfield; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nadine and Terry Sidle of Ontario, CA and Annette and Lloyd Hill of Circleville; his good friends, Debbie and Zack Wade of Logan; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his closest companion, his golden retriever, Titus.

The funeral will be Monday, April 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland. Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home in New Holland from noon Monday until the time of the service.
